Jan 06, 2011 In this video I show you the Mac app store, just released to all Mac OS X 10.6.6 users. This is a new way to get applications all in one place, but will it live up to the hype? This week's uploads. Sep 04, 2013 iOS. IOS is Apple's mobile operating system that runs on iPhone and iPod touch. Historically, Apple releases a new iOS version once a year, the current version is iOS 13. I want to organize my apps on my phone (move apps around and put them into folders) from itunes on my mac. I'm not seeing an apps tab in itunes or the option that lets you move apps anymore in itunes. Has that feature gone away? My Mac is running Sierra 10.13.4 and my iphone is up to date. The Mac App Store revolutionises the way apps are installed on a computer — it happens in one step. Enter the same iTunes password you use to buy apps and music on your iPhone, iPad, Mac or iPod touch. Within seconds, your new app flies to Launchpad, ready to go. So you can spend more time enjoying new apps and less time installing them. Browse or search for the app that you want to download. Apps for iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch don't always have a version for Mac. Click the app. Click the price, then click Buy App. If you don't see a price, click Get, then click Install App. You might need to sign in with your Apple ID.
Running iOS apps on Mac sounds like a great option for most users. The vast number of iOS apps would become instantly available on your desktop. However, Apple is pretty stringent in its rules for running software between platforms.
The macOS and iOS platforms are not completely unified as of yet. Although the option to use iOS apps on Mac is possible, the solution is not simple or quick. You can use iPhone apps on your Mac with some configuring. This tutorial will show you how.
Check Your Libraries
Mac and iOS have independent software libraries. You may find an app or apps that are similar to the ones you want to run on your Mac in iTunes. If you still want to run iOS apps on your Mac, go to the next step.
Make Sure Your Mac Is Up To Date
The process of running iOS on your Mac will require installations and downloads that will require space and permissions. Make sure your Mac is up to date before you get started preparing your Mac for the apps:
1. Go to Apple > System Preferences
2. Check for updates available for your system
3. Click the Update button to install the updates
Choose a Simulator
Apple started to investigate building apps that are similar to iOS apps for Mac in 2014 with Mojave 10.14. If you are using Mojave 10.14, you can use Home, News, Stocks, and Voice Memos iOS apps on your Mac. Yet, a simulator is the most common option for running iOS apps on Mac. Simulators allow you to run a copy of the iOS platform on your desktop. This solution is not full proof. However, it can work seamlessly if you use a high performing simulator.
Here is a list of just some of the simulators out there that you may choose to use on your Mac:
Simulator – Can be used as an iPhone simulation on Mac or PC.
iPadian – high performance simulator for running iOS apps on Mac
Project Catalyst – Newest feature from Apple to run iOS apps on Mac
Download Xcode
Apple doesn’t yet provide a built-in simulator app on Mac. Use Xcode to run your iOS simulator on Mac. First, you will have to download Xcode Integrated Development Environment (IDE) onto your Mac before you can use Developer Mode on your iPhone. Follow these steps to download Xcode on your Mac:
1. Go to Apple Developer Downloads webpage and find the most recent software developer releases:
2. Make sure you are downloading Xcode to Mac only. If need be, check to see what version of Mac you are using.
3. Sign in with your email and password to sign in to the developer portal. If this is the first time you’ve signed in, you will have to produce a verification code. Access the code on your iPhone or other Apple device you are signed in to with your Apple ID.
4. Click on the Download button located next to the Xcode. A Mac App Store Preview page should open up in a new tab.
5. Select View in Mac App Store option next to the Xcode icon on the left of your browser.
6. Click on Open App Store from the pop-up. Xcode should open up in the Apple App Store on your Mac. Select the Get button. When the green Install App button appears, click on it. The latest version of Xcode will be installed on your Mac.
Note: Mac OS requires as much as 5GB of space and even more space when swap space when the memory is full. (You must have at least 15 to 20GB of free space to download Xcode to your iPhone.)
Install IPadian Simulator To Run iOS Apps On Your Mac
iPadian is a great choice as a simulator to run iOS apps on Mac. The simulator is high performing and will present the application very close to the actual macOS presentation. Follow these steps to install iPadian on your Mac:
1. First, download Adobe Air onto your Mac.
2. Install Adobe Air
3. Then, install iPadian and download it.
4. Run the iPadian .exe file
5. When the download is complete, open the simulator
6. You can now use the simulator to run your iOS apps on Mac
Go to Applications > Xcode in Finder and right click on Xcode
You should see Show Package Contents in the dropdown menu. Select it.
Go to Applications in Finder and select iPadian. Or, drag the iPadian icon to your desktop and drop it.
Note: You will have to use iOS apps from the iPadian library on your Mac.
Contact Apple Support
If you were not able to install the simulator and run iOS apps on your Mac by using these steps, you can contact the Genius Bar or Apple Support for more help.
